(A) Friday Night League -
PLEASE COME TO THE TABLE LOCATED ADJACENT TO THE HOCKEY FIELD AT 3PM, 4 MARCH 2011 TO REGISTER YOUR TEAM (WITH FULL PAYMENT). FIRST IN BEST DRESSED POLICY WILL APPLY!
The social Friday Night Competition is situated on the Melbourne Uni Hockey pitches and runs every Friday night for a whole semester between 4-6.30pm. It is a fixed cost of $430 per team for around 11 matches and is based on a 5-A-SIDE ruling (FNL rules and regulations attached). This year we are implementing a strict 'Maximum 10 player' rule which effectively states that on your application list, only those 10 names filled will be allowed to play each match. This is to ensure a fair game for all and allow for easier accountability on our behalf in organising and keeping track of players.
Unfortunatlely we are unable to take in individuals for this league as in the past we have gathered together single players in order to create a team. This turned out to be ineffective as attendance was poor and inconsistent so you must enter this comp with a minimum of 5 players per team. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Thursday Night Knockout
In conjunction with the Friday Night League, there is also a competition that runs on Thursday nights. This is a knockout comp whereby teams battle it out to stay in the competition. There are no extra costs to join as it is already included in the Friday Night League fees.
(B) Melbourne University Men's (State League and Division 1)
The level of Futsal played in this League is taken to a whole new level, undoubtedly higher than that of the casual Friday Nights. Anyone expressing interest in joining this team must attend training sessions held on Monday nights, 8-10pm at University High School (opposite Melbourne Uni on Royal Parade). A higher level of commitment and expectation to perform at your very best is involved. Matches are held at Brunswick's FutsalOz stadium; only about a ten minute tram ride from Melbourne Uni. Time's for these matches vary accordingly but are from 6pm onwards on Sunday nights. Team selections are based on commitment and performance during training. With this having been said, both State League and Division 1 is a great way to challenge yourself in futsal with the competition itself being highly intense, fast paced game and played on top quality courts. Further Note - Junior Assistant Coaches (Mens and Womens Team)
We are currently on the lookout for two assistant coaches for the Mens team who will work alongside the coach of the men's team and take over his role in 2012. Furthermore the Girl's team is looking for a coach to possibly take over this year. The Coaching role in Melbourne Uni Futsal teams have always been through hours of volunteer but despite this it is a great asset to have on your CV and undoubtedly a great experience in which you can learn many things from. Please email if you would like to express interest in Coaching Role.
